Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival in Tangier & Guided Tour
Your Moroccan adventure begins as we pick you up from Tangier’s ferry port or airport. We’ll explore the highlights of Tangier, including the historic Kasbah, the vibrant Medina, and the stunning viewpoints overlooking the Strait of Gibraltar. After a day of discovery, you’ll settle into a comfortable hotel where dinner and breakfast will be provided.
Day 2: Tangier to Chefchaouen
After breakfast, we journey through the scenic Rif Mountains, passing by Tetouan before arriving in Chefchaouen. Known as the “Blue Pearl of Morocco,” this charming town invites you to stroll through its picturesque streets, explore its arts and crafts stores, and soak in the peaceful atmosphere. Tonight, you’ll stay in a traditional riad.
Day 3: Chefchaouen to Fes via Volubilis & Meknes
Leaving Chefchaouen, we head towards Fes with stops at the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and the imperial city of Meknes. Here, you’ll visit historical landmarks like Bab El Mansour and the granaries of Moulay Ismail. In the evening, we arrive in Fes, where you’ll check into a beautiful riad for the night.
Day 4: Fes Guided Tour
Today, you’ll embark on a guided tour of Fes, Morocco’s cultural and spiritual capital. You’ll explore the labyrinthine medina, visit the historic Al-Qarawiyyin University, discover the bustling tanneries, and stroll through the Jewish Quarter (Mellah). After lunch at a local restaurant, enjoy a panoramic view of the city before returning to your riad for the night.
Day 5: Fes to Merzouga Desert via Ifrane & Midelt
Departing from Fes, we travel through the Middle Atlas Mountains, passing through Ifrane, often called the “Switzerland of Morocco,” and Azrou, home to cedar forests and Barbary macaques. After a lunch stop in Midelt, we continue through the Ziz Valley, reaching Merzouga in the late afternoon. Here, you’ll embark on a camel trek into the golden Erg Chebbi dunes, arriving at a desert camp where you’ll enjoy a traditional Berber dinner under the starry sky.
Day 6: Merzouga Desert Exploration
After witnessing a magical desert sunrise, you’ll explore Merzouga and its surroundings. Our 4×4 tour includes a visit to a Gnawa village, where you’ll experience traditional music, a meeting with local nomadic families, and a stop at Rissani’s bustling market. In the evening, enjoy another night in the desert camp, with time for sandboarding, stargazing, and storytelling by the fire.
Day 7: Merzouga to Dades Gorges via Todra Gorge
After breakfast, we travel through Rissani and Erfoud, known for their fossil workshops. Continuing through the palm groves of the Ziz Valley, we reach the breathtaking Todra Gorge, a favorite for rock climbers and nature lovers. After exploring the gorge, we drive to Boumalne Dades, where you’ll spend the night in a hotel nestled within the stunning Dades Gorges.
Day 8: Dades Gorges to Marrakech via Ait Benhaddou
Today’s drive takes us through the captivating Dades Valley and the Rose Valley of Kalaat Mgouna, known for its annual rose festival. We continue to Ouarzazate, often called the “Hollywood of Morocco,” where you can visit local film studios. The journey then leads to the famous Ait Benhaddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage site. From here, we drive through the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass before reaching Marrakech, where you’ll settle into a hotel near the medina.
Day 9: Marrakech Guided Tour
Explore the vibrant city of Marrakech with a private guided tour. Visit the Majorelle Garden, Koutoubia Mosque, Saadian Tombs, and Bahia Palace. After lunch, dive into the lively souks, where artisans craft traditional Moroccan goods.
